A Night at the Museum
On Sept. 28 we held our 3rd annual "Night at the Museum" recruitment event. Members brought cheese, crackers, fruit, and cookies to share with the 5 possible members.
The "Pride in the Big Picture" PowerPoint was presented by President, Diana Garza, brief introductions shared and a scavenger hunt of the museum enjoyed by all.
Honduran Teachers
Those of you who spent time with these 5 wonderful woman have lots of tales to tell. They were caring, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. Following is a brief summary of some of the activities Lambda Eta members provided:
Linda Correa-Garcia hosted the ladies for a full day of sewing projects.
Rita Galloway, along with Jan Demro, provided in-service training on SPED and hands-on science experiments. Donna Redding and Susan Kerens helped out with food and experiments.
Susan Kerens and Rita Galloway helped them get a personalized presentation and behind the scenes tour of Sea Turtle Inc. by STI Director, Jeff George and other STI staff.
Diana Garza, Sylvia Cruz, Donna Redding and Bethany Prechel hosted them for discussion and a meal in Los Fresnos.
Pearl Garza prepared a meal for them and gave them school supplies.
Ines Velez invited them over to her home for food and ESL information.
Rita Galloway arranged for them to visit classes at TSTC in Early Childhood and Teaching Science and Math in the Ele-mentary Classroom. Faculty and Staff of the Education and Training Department provided food and a question and answer time.
Tina Rodriguez, Veronica Galvan, and Melissa Aguirre provided a meal and conversation.
Dorothea Cole hosted the students during their stay, made arrangements for visiting the Los Fresnos School District, kept a master schedule of all events, and made sure husband Fred was prepared for driving them on time to appointed destinations.
If you did not personally meet with the Honduran teachers talk to any of these members to find out all about their visit!
